Detailed Analysis
Health insurance and mediclaim are often confused, but they offer very different levels of protection.
Comprehensive health insurance covers a wide range of medical expenses: hospitalization, pre/post treatment, daycare procedures, ambulance, and sometimes OPD. No-claim bonuses increase your coverage annually, and restoration benefits reset your sum insured after a claim.
Mediclaim is a basic hospitalization indemnity plan. It covers hospital bills up to the sum insured but often excludes daycare procedures, OPD, and has limited pre/post hospitalization coverage. It's cheaper but leaves you exposed.
